The Fool’s Journey
One of the most difficult things is just starting, taking that first step. Usually once we start the rest will flow, once we take the leap and end up on the other side we can look back and think ‘Hell, that worked, so the rest will be easy’.
Right before the jump I overthink, I worry, I question everything that has brought me to that point. Because what if it’s not good enough, what if it’s not perfect, what if I end up not making it to the other side of the cliff and I fall down into the abyss and just die.
Now if I were actually standing in front of a massive cliff and I actually had to jump several meters into the air in order to make it to the other side, this questioning might make sense. But when it comes to just typing out some words to start off a blog that has been on my mind for nearly 4 years… the chance of falling down into an abyss and dying is drastically lowered.
Of course it could still fail, of course, it could be just another pebble on the pile of tasks once dreamt of but never finished, of course it could just be one of those things I do that never goes anywhere. But then we have to go back to why I wanted to start this in the first place.
I wanted to start this for me, because I found myself getting lost in the amount of information and topics and opinions and options and ways and practices. This blog was going to be a way for me to explore and it doesn’t have to be anything more than that. So if I make a mistake, that’s fine, if I’m the only one that ever reads this, that’s fine, if I fail That Is Fine.
So, I’m going to take a page out of The Fool’s handbook. I’m going to take the leap, I’m going take a risk, I’m going to be a little spontaneous and do what feels right for me.
